ComicFest at Wellington Central Library – 1st & 2nd May

Wellington City Libraries are hosting a celebration of NZ cartoonists and comic creators and the comic book medium over the next few days – all welcome.

 

Today, Moth City creator and former Weta designer, Tim Gibson will be hosting a Digital comics workshop at the Central library from 5 – 6.30.

At 7.00 on the second floor, Tim Gibson, cartoonist and comics historian, Tim Bollinger, film maker and comics creator Jonathan King and publisher Matt Emery will discuss N.Z. comics current and future state.

Tomorrow is Free comic book day at the Central library and sponsors GRAPHIC comic store have provided over a thousand free comics to give away.

We have a Women’s comics panel with the editors of upcoming anthology, ‘Three Words’ and Weta’s Chris Guise will present on the transition of ‘Tintin: From comic to film.’

Novelist and cartoonist Sarah Laing will host a comics workshop first thing thanks to sponsors ‘The New Zealand book council.’

We also have a Manga drawing competition and Cosplay with prizes.
