Lexicon is the New Zealand national Science Fiction Convention. It will be held in Taupo over Queens Birthday Weekend, (2–4 June, 2017). They have published a “Three Months to Go” update – you can read it here. There is a lot of good stuff to read in it.
We would particularly like to draw your attention to the “Accommodation and Transport” section. The convention venue has booked out. The good news is that Taupo is a tourist town with lots of alternative places to stay. Lexicon has documented some nearby recommended options. The convention is over a holiday weekend, so if you have not already done so, it may be a good idea to start investigating your accommodation options soon.
LexiCon has announced that a draft programme for the event is available.
As with all such programmes, it is a work in progress. There is still room for additional items. If you are interested in participating, please contact the convention. Even if you are new to conventions and not sure what you can offer, please get in touch. Volunteering to help is the best way to get up to speed with what happens at a con.

Seanan McGuire, renowned Californian urban fantasy and horror author, filk composer and cartoonist, has been confirmed as the Guest of Honour at LexiCon 2017.

Seanan is also Guest of Honour at the 2017 Continuum convention in Australia and both conventions are looking forward to her visit to the Southern Hemisphere.
Seanan McGuire is the author of the October Daye and InCryptid urban fantasies and the Newsflesh novels (under the pseudonym Mira Grant). She also records CDs of her original filk music and is creator of the autobiographical web comic “With Friends Like These…”.
Winner of the 2010 John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, her novel Feed (as Mira Grant) was named as one of Publishers Weekly’s Best Books of 2010. In 2013 she became the first person ever to appear five times on the same Hugo Ballot.
Convention committee co-chair Cassie Hart says she’s excited to welcome Seanan to LexiCon.
“There are a lot of fans in our membership who are very much looking forward to hearing her speak, and sing,” says Cassie. “Plus, we’ve just finished finalising our Fan Guest of Honour as well, so you can expect another announcement very soon!’
